Rock Solid Pointing Labs began in 2004 when we purchased our first pointing lab. Back then we did not know how one dog could have such a powerful impact on our lives. Belle is solely responsible for our love and passion for hunting, for our love and passion for the outdoors, and our love and passion producing high end labradors. Our goal is to pass on this love and passion for generations to come. For more information contact: jjfranken@premieronline.net

Yesterday we took a little time to get some puppy pictures before we left on vacation and I'm just getting around to posting tonight. It's hard to believe how much they've grown in first 5 days, but they've double in size, and there are not signs of them slowing down. For a first time mother, Mags has amazed me. She's always been one with very little sit, and a whole lot of go, so I wondered how she'd take to looking after a bunch of little ones. Well....she's been great! She keeps a watchful eye on them, and I think the babies have mellowed her out already. She'll lay in the whelping box for hours on end nursing and cleaning up after them. When she comes in from playing out side she always makes sure to nuzzle them out of the way so when she lays down so she doesn't smash any of them. We clipped dew claws on Thursday and changed carpet for the first time so they had a fresh clean bed to sleep in! Even though the pups aren't very exciting at this stage, we tend to enjoy every minute of keeping our watchful eyes on them. We know that 7 weeks comes too quickly so this family sure makes the most of every moment count!

The puppies arrive!
Early Monday morning, the greatly anticipated Maggie x Rico litter arrived. The first arrived around 1:35 am and the last around 6:54 am. I must say Maggie was very efficient pushing 11 puppies out in about 5.5 hours. The whelp went well, and we're excited to see both mother and babies are doing well! We were all a bit tired by morning, but there's just something about the arrival of new pups that keeps me from going to bed! Maggie didn't need my help, but I think she appreciated our watchful eye, and the reassurance that she was doing a great job.

5 Weeks Old
The pups turned 5 weeks old on Friday, and it's hard to believe the time has gone so quickly! This has been a busy summer, but despite the chaos, the pups have been a lot of fun and receive about every ounce of our free time. They have grown up too fast, and it's hard to believe they'll start going home here in a couple weeks! They are getting too fast to keep up with and it's safe to say Jack is going to need a bigger 4 wheeler if he's going to outrun them anymore! We're excited to watch their personalities really start to shine in the next couple of weeks, and we're excited that we still have 2 weeks left with them!
