The pups finally made themselves known on March 16! We were away to my father's 60th birthday party, but they were in great hands. My 9 year old Gracyn, had a feeling they would be born that evening, so spent most of the night in the shed. We were able check progress on the camera, and as the night continued on, Lilly grew more and more restless and we knew she was getting close. Around 9:30 pm the first of 10 healthy pups were born. The first was a female, and Gracyn had things in control. She had her pen and paper to take note of the sex and time, and I'm pretty confident that someday, she'll be running the show without me. She absolutely loves everything about it, and the plus side for me is she knows exactly what to do. The kids called to let us know, but I was already aware from following the Nestcam. It amazes me at how far we've come in the world of technology, and I'm thankful to be able to keep tabs on the process even when you're out of town. By the time we got home 2 more were born, and I knew I was in for a long evening. Not that that is was a bad thing. For some crazy reason I look forward to those long nights. By 3:08 am the last of the puppies was born. 6 females, and 4 males. All are healthy, eating well, and were excited to watch them grow over the next few weeks.
