Early in the morning hours of May 18 Lilly began the labor process. The kids spent the better part of the last day and a half in the shed awaiting that moment. They helped in the preparations, and made sure Lilly was comfortable when that moment arrived. I guess that has been one advantage of not having to get up for school in the morning! Normally they would have been long in bed, but they set up "home" in the shed and even slept in the chairs so they could be a part of the process. The first puppy was born at 1:40 am and Gracyn was sure to help document everything. She had her notebooks and lists all laid out. The last pup, number 9, was born at 6:59 am so it was a fairly quick process. All the puppies came out healthy and momma is doing great! We're excited to watch them grow, and the process for choosing names for each has already begun. When it was all said and done Lilly had 9 pups. 5 yellow females, 1 yellow male, 2 black males, and 1 black female!
